The radiometer, also known as a light windmill, demonstrates a theory by English physicist Sir William Crookes, that solar power can be converted to energy.
When warm light (not fluorescent) strikes the wings resting on a needle inside the radiometer bowl they begin to turn. Depending on the power of the light, the wings rotate at varying speeds.
